Biographical Information[edit]

Jeremy Wu-Yelland pitched in the minor leagues and for the Chinese national team.

Wu-Yelland had a 1-3, 6.14 record as a college freshman and improved to 2-4 with a save and a 4.86 ERA as a sophomore. With the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod League that summer, he went 2-1 with a save and a 3.16 ERA, striking out 26 in 25 2/3 innings but walking 15. He was 1-1 with two saves and a 0.69 ERA in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 collegiate season. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 4th round of the 2020 Amateur Draft, one pick after Luke Little. The scout was JJ Altobelli. [1]

He went 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA for the Salem Red Sox in his first season as a pro, 2021. He also pitched 3 games with a 3.00 ERA for the Greenville Drive, starting with a memorable effort on September 2,as he completed a no-hitter, combined with José Espada, Oddanier Mosqueda and Jacob Wallace against the Asheville Tourists. Wu-Yelland allowed 4 runs in 4 innings for the FCL Red Sox in 2023, and he was 2-1 with a save and a 5.67 ERA for the Greenville Drive in 2024. He was on China's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, and he relieved Xudi Suo in the 5th inning against Germany. Wu-Yelland plunked Donald Lutz, then he fanned Finn Bergmann and retired Alexander Schmidt to end the inning. He got Eric Brenk to start the 6th inning, and he struck out Lou Helmig but allowed a double to Lucas Dunn. Wu-Yelland struck out Vincent Ahrens and Yicong Sun succeeded him. Only Huadancairang and Wei Zhao pitched more innings for China without allowing a run in the tourney. [4]
