Biographical Information[edit]

J.R. Bradley pitched in the Arizona Diamondbacks system from 2010 to 2017, peaking at Triple-A.

He was taken by the club in the 2nd round of the 2010 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher Brandon Workman and ahead of Andrelton Simmons, and was signed by scout Shawn Barton. His records and ERAs over his first four seasons were, respectively, 1-7 W-L, 5.93 ERA, 6-16 W-L, 4.98 ERA, 7-8 W-L, 5.98 ERA and 4-6, 5.61 ERA. In his rookie campaign, he tied Alejandro Barraza for second in the Pioneer League with 7 losses, behind Greg Billo's 8. In 2010, he led the Midwest League in losses (16), hits allowed (169), runs allowed (100) and earned runs allowed (79). In 2012, he tied David Goforth for second in the Midwest League in earned runs allowed with 78, behind Aaron Brooks's 85. He turned it around in 2014, however, going 3-2 with a 1.48 ERA in 31 games split between the South Bend Silver Hawks and Visalia Rawhide; he had 46 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings. That was the only year he'd post a winning record. He slipped to 1-4 with a 4.01 ERA in 2015, would miss 2016, and went 2-3 with a 4.06 ERA in 2017. He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 2017.

Overall, Bradley went 24-46 with a 5.03 ERA in 209 games (63 starts). In 486 1/3 innings, he allowed 556 hits and 191 walks (1.536 WHIP), while striking out 381 batters.
