Biographical Information[edit]

Heath McMurray played in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.

McMurray was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 26th round of the 1997 Amateur Draft out of high school but opted for college. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 13th round of the 1998 Amateur Draft out of junior college, but he didn't sign then either. The Brewers drafted him again in the 12nd round of the 2000 Amateur Draft, this time out of LSU, and he notched 3 saves with a 4.50 ERA in 12 appearances for the Ogden Raptors in 2000. He went 2-3 with a 3.28 ERA in 10 games for the Raptors in 2001, and he pitched 9 games with a 3-0 record and a 4.70 ERA for the Beloit Snappers. McMurray then went 5-5 with a 4.04 ERA for the Cincinnati Reds' Dayton Dragons affiliate, and he also had a 0.78 ERA in 3 games for the Canton Coyotes in 2002. He pitched for the USA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, allowing two runs in 3 2/3 innings. McMurray was 2-3 with a 3.05 ERA for the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2003, and his professional career ended.
