Biographical Information[edit]

Hank Soar played professional football after college for the Boston Shamrocks (1936) and New York Giants (1937-1946). In 1947, Soar was a busy man. He coached the Providence Steamrollers in the Basketball Association of America, coached the backfield at Rhode Island State College, and began his umpiring career in the New England League.

Soar held the backfield coaching position and his job in the New England League until 1949. He was transferred to the American Association in May of 1949. Soar moved up to the American League from 1950 to 1973.
