Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Grant Hockin was the Cleveland Indians second round pick in 2014, but never advanced beyond Single-A. He was taken 61st overall, one pick ahead of outfielder Alex Verdugo, and was signed by scout Ryan Thompson.

He debuted at 18 years old with the AZL Indians in 2014, going 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 9 games (7 starts). After missing 2015 and 2016 to injury, he returned in 2017 to go 2-4 with a 4.36 ERA in 8 starts for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. In 2018, he went 1-3 with a 6.27 mark in 4 games for the Lake County Captains. He again missed a couple seasons, 2019 and 2020, then returned with the independent Florence Y'Alls in 2021, going 0-2, 8.38 in 10 relief appearances with them. He returned to Florence in 2022, going without a decision and posting a 7.40 ERA in 9 games (2 starts).

Overall, Hockin went 3-9 with a 5.59 ERA in 40 games (21 starts). In 103 innings, he allowed 127 hits and 25 walks (1.476 WHIP), while striking out 85 batters.

His grandfather is Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. He is also related to Cam Killebrew.
