A couple years later, 1994, he stole 24 bags between the Yakima Bears and Bakersfield Dodgers. He was also second in the Northwest League in walks (56), behind Charlie Nelson's 57. He joined the Montreal Expos system in 1996, staying there until 2000. In 1998, he reached Triple-A for the first time, hitting .300/.365/.436 with 6 home runs and 35 RBI in 93 games for the Ottawa Lynx. He hit .307/.374/.443 in 112 games on the year as a whole. He later played in the Cleveland Indians (2000), Los Angeles Dodgers (2001), Nashville Sounds (2002), New York Yankees (2003) and Colorado Rockies (2003) systems.

Overall, Post hit .272/.367/.383 with 46 home runs, 377 RBI and 103 steals in 987 games over 12 seasons. At Triple-A, he hit .272/.357/.394 with 32 home runs, 214 RBI and 44 steals in 568 games. He had a good eye at the plate, finishing with 444 walks to just 442 strikeouts.

He later became a scout, working for the Miami Marlins and Houston Astros. He later moved to the San Diego Padres, becoming a special assistant to the general manager.
