Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Colton Ledbetter was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2nd round of the 2023 amateur draft, out of Mississippi State University. He had played just one season there, hitting .320 with 12 homers, 52 runs and 53 RBIs in 53 games after transferring from Samford University.

He played 21 games in Rookie-class and Class A after signing with the Ray in 2023, batting .274. In 2024, he played 109 games for the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League, batting .273 with 16 homers and 65 RBIs and also stealing 34 bases. He was named to the league's post-season All-Star team. In 2025, he moved up to the Montgomery Biscuits of the AA Southern League and hit .265 in 123 games, with 7 homers and 49 RBIs. His speed was again on display with 67 runs and 37 steals.

On February 2, 2026, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners along with a Competitive Balance Round B pick in the 2026 amateur draft in return for 3B Ben Williamson. He was then immediately sent to the St. Louis Cardinals, along with the pick and two other top prospects, both former first-rounders in Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete, in return for IF/OF Brendan Donovan.
