Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Tai Peete was taken 30th overall in the 2023 amateur draft, out of a high school in Georgia. He was listed as a shortstop at the time and was the first player taken in Competitive Balance Round A that year, by the Seattle Mariners.

After signing with the Mariners, he played 24 games between the ACL Mariners and the Modesto Nuts of the California League in 2023, batting .283 with 2 homers and 20 RBIs. He was still an infielder at the time but began playing the outfield in 2024, when he appeared in 116 games with Modesto. His slash line was .269/.343/.408, with 26 doubles, 9 triples and 7 homers. He also scored 72 runs and drove in 71 while being successful in 45 of 50 stolen base attempts. He was named a post-season All-Star. In 2025, he moved up to the High-A Northwest League, playing 125 games for the Everett AquaSox. He struggled a bit at the plate, falling to .217, although he still flashed some good power with 24 doubles and 19 homers. He scored 58 runs and drove in 63, but was less successful in the stolen base department, with 25 steals and 11 times caught stealing. By then, he was solely an outfielder.

On February 2, 2026, he and fellow top prospects Jurrangelo Cijntje and Colton Ledbetter, as well as two Competitive Balance Round B picks in the 2026 amateur draft, were traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in return for OF/IF Brendan Donovan.
