Biographical Information[edit]
Colby Halter has played as high as AAA and has represented the US and Israel on the international stage.
He hit .419/.486/.548 with 8 runs in 9 games for the US when they won Silver in the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, pitching two shutout innings (saving Nolan McLean's win over Panama) and handling 20 chances error-free. He tied Jaylin Rae for 4th in average, was 8th in OBP, tied Rae and Chris Burke for 3rd in hits (13) and tied for 4th with four doubles, but lost All-Star honors at 3B to Shun-Ho Wang. [1] He batted .302/.379/.453 and fielded .931 as a freshman infielder for the 2021 Florida Gators. The next season, he slipped to .240/.338/.380 but improved his fielding to .964.
With the Falmouth Commodores in the summer of '22, he bounced back at .307/.407/.507 with 7 homers in 39 games. He was 6th in average, tied for the homer lead, was 4th in OBP and ranked 3rd in both slugging and OPS. [2] He was named an All-Star. [3] As a junior for the Gators, he fielded .948 at the hot corner and produced at a .247/.354/.397 clip, going to the 2023 College World Series. The Oakland A's took him in the 17th round of the 2023 amateur draft.
Halter split that summer between the ACL Athletics (.455/.538/.576 in 11 G) and Lansing Lugnuts (.198/.293/.259 in 23 G). In '24, he hit .258/.368/.365 for Lansing, fielding .967 at second base. He spent 2025 with the Midland Rockhounds (.280/.381/.424 in 89 G) and Las Vegas Aviators (.203/.27/.364 in 34 G), with 70 runs, 8 triples and 28 steals in 32 tries for the summer. Among A's farmhands, he tied Nick Martini for 5th in runs, was 5th with 25 doubles, led in triples, 8th in RBI (63) and 3rd in swipes (after Cameron Leary and Henry Bolte).
The Floridian was a late addition to Israel's team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, replacing Troy Johnston. Starting at third base ahead of Jake Gelof against the Dominican Republic, he struck out against Brayan Bello his first time up and finished the game 0-for-3. [4]
