Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Henry Bolte was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 2nd round of the 2022 amateur draft from a high school in the heart of Silicon Valley in California. He was signed by scout Troy Stewart, giving up a commitment to the University of Texas.
By 2024, he was playing in the AA Texas League at age 20, and putting up a slash line of .367/.368/.466 in 133 games between the Class A Lansing Lugnuts and the Midland RockHounds, with 32 doubles, 15 homers, 92 runs, 73 RBIs and 46 stolen bases. After the season, he was named a Midwest League post-season All-Star and High Class-A All-Star by Baseball America. In 2025, he split his season between AA and AAA, appearing for Midland and for the Las Vegas Aviators of the Pacific Coast League. Once again, his number were impressive, with a batting line of .284/.385/.427 in 114 games, with 66 runs, 9 homers and 46 RBIs. He stole 44 bases and was caught just 2 times.
He started 2026 with Las Vegas, batting a scorching .348 with 12 homers and 28 RBIs in 37 games. There was no choice but for the Athletics, now based out of West Sacramento, CA to call him up to the Show. He made his debut on May 13th, starting in center field and going 2 for 2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in a 6-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. While his speed may have been his most visible asset, one week before his call-up he received attention by blasting a 479-foot homer on May 6th, the longest hit by any player at any level - including the majors - at that point of the season, according to Statcast. He hit his first big league homer on June 9th, but it came with an asterisk as it was hit during a home series played at Las Vegas Ballpark in the A's future home city of Las Vegas, NV. The AAA ballpark used on that occasion proved to be too small to contain major league hitters, as the Athletics had hit seven homers in the first of the three games on June 8th, and then added five more on the day Bolte went deep for the first time. That two-day total of 12 homers tied the franchise record set in 1996. Henry's blast came in the 2nd inning off Robert Gasser.
