Biographical Information

Infielder Jake Gelof is the brother of Zack Gelof. Like his brother, he has played for the Israeli national team, appearing for them in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, three years after his brother had done so in 2023.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd round of the 2023 amateur draft, out of the University of Virginia. He had quite the collegiate career, playing in the College World Series in 2021 and 2023, and batting .377 in 2022 and .321 with 23 homers and 90 RBIs in 65 games for the Cavaliers in 2023. He ended his college career as UVa's all time home run leader with 48 and broke the school's single-season RBI record in 2022 and again in 2023, and the single-season home run record in 2023. He and his older brother were teammates on the 2021 squad.

After signing with the Dodgers, he hit .226 in 34 games between the ACL Dodgers and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2023. He was named the California League Player of the Month for September, on account of hitting 5 homers and driving in 23 runs in 30 games. In 2024, he started the year at Rancho Cucamonga then was promoted to the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League on May 7th after hitting .310 in 25 games. Things did not go as well for him in High-A, as he fell to .186 in 85 games, with 8 homers and 41 RBIs. In 2025, he went back to Great Lakes and did somewhat better, with a slash line of .224/.318/.454 in 88 games. The most positive thing about his season was that the power he had displayed in college came calling for the first time, as he slugged 24 doubles and 16 homers while driving in 63 runs.
