Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Chase Meidroth was one of four players obtained by the Chicago White Sox from the Boston Red Sox on December 11, 2024 when Chicago traded ace starter Garrett Crochet to Boston. Accompanying him to the Windy City were Wikelman Gonzalez, Braden Montgomery and Kyle Teel. All four started the 2025 season in the minors, but Chase was the first of the group to make his major league debut, doing so two weeks into the season on April 11th.
He was originally drafted by Boston in the 4th round of the 2022 amateur draft out of the University of San Diego. He began his pro career that same year, hitting .316 in 22 games between the FCL Red Sox and Salem Red Sox. In 2023, he started off with the Greenville Drive of the South Atlantic League before earning a promotion to the AA Portland Sea Dogs. In 111 games between the two, his slash line was .271/.408/,391 with 78 runs and 57 RBIs. In 2024 he spent a full season in AAA with the Worcester Red Sox of the International League where he hit .293/.437/.401 in 122 games. He started 2025 with the Charlotte Knights and was hitting .267 in 9 games with 3 home runs when he got the call to Chicago.
Chase's first three major league games came against his former team. In his debut, he started at second base and reached base all four times, with a single and three walks, scoring two runs in an 11-1 win. He also got hits in his next two games. On April 13th, his 8th inning single off Crochet, the man he was traded for, broke a bid for a no-hitter and chased hom from the game; he later came in to score his team's only run on a single by Matt Thaiss.
