Biographical Information

Chase Engelhard has been on the Israeli national team.

He played baseball and football in high school and was active in his school's Jewish Student Union. He hit a solid .299/.361/.490 as a Tulane freshman, driving in 52 runs in 53 games. He slipped to .249/.293/.410 in a sophomore slump then was 4-for-18 with two walks, a triple and a homer for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League. His junior season, he posted a .211/.268/.344 batting line. Transferring to Florida International, he improved to .308/.397/.471 as a senior. He played in the MLB Draft League that summer, batting .242/.322/.394.

Engelhard was 0 for 7 with a walk and a run for Israel in the 2025 U23 European Championship. He remained with them for the 2025 European Championship and did much better against the tougher competition. Starting at first in their opener (and five of their six other games), he led off their tourney with a hit off France's Quentin Moulin and scored twice that day. He had four hits and five runs produced versus Switzerland. For the Euros, he was at .375/.412/.469 with 7 runs and 6 RBI in 7 games; in the 7th/8th place game, he went deep off Croatia's Nino Kruhek. He fielded .984. He finished third in the event with 58 putouts, behind catchers Hendrik Clementina and Will Cresswell. He tied Renzo Martini and Alberto Mineo for 4th in hits (12) and tied for 8th in runs.
