Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Yoshimura has pitched for the Brazilian national team and for Yamaha in the industrial leagues of Japan.

Yoshimura was with Brazil for the 2003 Pan American Games and 2003 Baseball World Cup (a team-high four games pitched, 7 K, 2 BB, 4 H in 4 1/3 IP, the team's lone save). He returned to the club for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Replacing Oscar Nakaoshi with a 1-0 lead in the 5th against Colombia, he allowed hits to Edgar Renteria and Jolbert Cabrera that tied it up but got the win over Cristián Mendoza as Brazil rallied; Gabriel Asakura succeeded him on the hill. Brazil advanced to the 2013 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic. In his lone appearance in that event, he was Brazil's top hurler in their 5-2 loss to Cuba. Replacing Kesley Kondo in the 6th with the bases loaded, two outs and a 5-0 deficit, he struck out Yuli Gurriel. In the 7th, he allowed a Frederich Cepeda single, got José Abreu out, yielded a Yasmani Tomás double but escaped the jam by striking out Luis Rivera and retiring Yosvany Peraza. In the 8th, he went 1-2-3 against Erisbel Arruebarrena, Guillermo Heredia and Alexei Bell. Thyago Vieira succeeded him in the 9th.
