Biographical Information[edit]

Blake Cooper pitched in the minor leagues from 2010 to 2015. He spent parts or all of two seasons at Triple-A, but never ascended to the majors.

He was taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 12th round of the 2010 amateur draft, a few picks after future Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray, and was signed by scout George Swain. He posted respective ERAs of 3.38, 3.62 and 3.38 his first three seasons, before breaking out with a 2.55 mark in 54 games between the Visalia Rawhide and Mobile BayBears in 2013. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2014, going 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in 17 games for the Reno Aces; he had a 3.16 ERA in 49 games on the year as a whole. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs for outfielder Brett Jackson on August 15, 2014. He was also a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star that year. Despite going 7-4 with a 2.63 ERA in 50 games for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs in 2015, he retired in February 2016 to wrap up his career.

Overall, Cooper went 23-20 with a 3.05 ERA in 250 relief appearances. In 315 1/3 innings, he allowed 278 hits and 129 walks (1.291 WHIP), while striking out 297 batters.

He later became a pitching for for The Citadel.
