Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Adam Bourassa played professionally from 2003 to 2007, peaking at Double-A.
He was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 6th round of the 2003 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and in the same round as future star Matt Kemp. Prior to playing professionally, he had made the 2002 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament All-Tournament Team.
After a down initial pro campaign, he hit .290/.386/.327 with 14 steals in 57 games for the Clinton LumberKings in 2004. He split the 2005 season between the Rangers and San Diego Padres organizations, hitting a combined .303/.378/.380 in 78 games, then in 2006, he posted a .422 on-base percentage in 49 games between three clubs. He joined the independent ranks in 2007, hitting .353/.415/.442 with 16 steals in 65 games for the St. Paul Saints.
Overall, he hit .291/.389/.351 with 3 home runs, 112 RBI, 202 runs, 51 steals, 165 walks and 120 strikeouts in 308 games. He never more strikeouts than walks in a campaign.
He later worked in the Boston Red Sox front office, before scouting for the San Diego Padres from 2009 to 2013. He signed Nate Freiman, Rico Noel and Dennis O'Grady. In 2014 and 2015, he was assistant/hitting coach for the University of Cincinnati and from 2016 to 2023, he served as a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He later worked for GoRout, which creates products that allows coaches to communicate wirelessly with their players on the field.
