1967 New York Mets
1967 New York Mets / Franchise: New York Mets / BR Team Page
History, Comments, Contributions
The 1967 New York Mets used 20 different starting pitchers, which is still the National League record. Only the 1915 Philadelphia Athletics have used more (24), and the 2019 Toronto Blue Jays have tied their mark, but both played in the American League. Two spots in the starting rotation were constants, with rookie Tom Seaver making 34 starts and going 16-13, 2.76 on his way to winning the 1967 National League Rookie of the Year Award, while veteran Jack Fisher went 9-18, 4.70 in 30 starts. However, Fisher also pitched 9 times in relief, a sign that manager Wes Westrum - who did not last until the end of the season - was forever experimenting with roles on his staff.
