Biographical Information

Chih-Tsung Chiang played in the CPBL for 5 years. His brother is minor league infielder Chih-Hsien Chiang.

Chiang was drafted by the La New Bears in the second round of the 2005 CPBL Draft. He debuted in 2006, and he hit .307/.335/.402. He was selected into the 2006 CPBL All-Star Game, but he was 0-for-1. In the 2006 Taiwan Series, he hit .357/.357/.357 and helped the Monkeys sweep the Uni-President Lions. Chiang recorded a .293/.347/.398 batting line in 2007, and he also became the first player to ground into a double play in 3 straight at-bats, when he did it on June 23. He had a big day in Game 3 of the 2007 Taiwan Series, blasting a solo shot off Wei-Lun Pan to give the Bears a win. His batting line was .292/.342/.500 in that series, but the Bears were still beaten by the Lions in 7 games. Chiang had a .29/.350/.376 batting line in 2008, but he slumped to .164/.244/.219 in 2009. He was then involved in a game-fixing scandal, and the league banned him for life.

Overall, Chiang hit .283/.334/.374 with 205 hits and 29 doubles in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
