Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Zach Pop was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 7th round of the 2017 amateur draft, out of the University of Kentucky. The signing scout was Marty Lamb. He had originally been drafted in the 23rd round in 2014 by his hometown Toronto Blue Jays when he graduated from a high school in Brampton, ON.

Zach began his professional career with the AZL Dodgers, pitching just 5 scoreless innings in as many games in 2017. In 2018, he was assigned to start the year with the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League and was 0-2, 2.20 in 11 games. He was then promoted to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League where he was dominant in 19 relief outings, compiling an ERA of 0.33 and saving 7 games. he allowed just 13 hits in 27 innings. On July 18th, he was one of five prospects traded to the Baltimore Orioles in return for All-Star SS Manny Machado.

He was selected by the Miami Marlins from the Orioles in the 2020 Rule V Draft and made his major league debut with the Marlins on April 3, 2021, pitching a scoreless inning in relief against the Tampa Bay Rays.
