Biographical Information[edit]
Young-jun Han played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 12 years.
Han was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the first round of the 1985 KBO draft, and he hit .219/.327/.298 with a league-leading 24 sacrifice bunts in his first season. He then hit .226/.278/.302 in 1986, and he improved to .301/.376/.410 with 6 homers in 1987. Han recorded a .301/.387/.420 batting line with 24 steals in 1988, and he was 6th in steals (34 behind Soon-chul Lee). Han crushed 10 homers with a .252/.342/.391 batting line in 1989, and he ranked 5th in doubles (23, tied with Il-kwon Kim). He slumped to .227/.367/.358 in 1990, then he only played 59 games with a .239/.350/.366 batting line in 1992.
The Busan native crushed 3 homers with a .272/.407/.378 batting line in 1992, and he went 2-for-7 as Lotte's captain in the 1992 Korean Series. The Giants beat the Binggrae Eagles in 5 games, and Han won his only title. He slumped to .219/.347/.307 in 1993, and he soon bounced back with a .291/.391/.402 batting line in 1994. Han struggled again in 1995 as his batting line was .200/.316/.221, and he announced his retirement in 1996. He was the fielding coach for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 1997, for the Giants from 1998 to 2002, for the Doosan Bears from 2004 to 2008 and for Doosan's minor league team from 2009 to 2010. He also coached Korea University in 2012.
Overall, Han hit .253/.355/.360 with 717 hits and 48 homers in 12 seasons in the KBO.
