Biographical Information[edit]
Yo-sup Yoon played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 10 years.
Yoon went undrafted in the 2005 KBO draft, and he joined the Republic of Korea Marine Corps. He then signed with the SK Wyverns in 2008 after he completed his military service, and he was 1-for-6 in his first season. Yoon had a solid .394/.432/.545 batting line in 39 plate appearances over 28 games in 2009, and the Wyverns traded him with Hyun-joon Park and Sun-kyu Kim to the LG Twins for Jae-young Lee, Dong-soo Choi, Yong-gwan Kwon and Chi-yong Ahn. Yoon had a .294/.339/.294 batting line in 2010, then he hit .221/.330/.455 in 67 games in 2011. Yoon improved to .298/.374/.374 in 2012, and he was named the starting catcher for the Twins after Jae-yoon Hyun was injured in 2013. However, Yoon slumped to .204/.306/.274 that season, and he only played 27 games with a .221/.250/.279 batting line in 2014.
The Twins then traded him with Yong-geun Park to the KT Wiz for Joon-hyeong Lee, and he recorded a .264/.293/.473 batting line in 74 games in 2015. Yoon batted .238/.356/.429 in 2016, but he was 9-for-39 in 2017 then he announced his retirement. He then became the minor league battery coach for the Wiz from 2018 to 2021 and for the Twins from 2022 to 2023. The SSG Landers named him their minor league battery coach in 2024, and he also coached the South Korea national team in the 2025 Asian Championship.
Overall, Yoon hit .228/.328/.379 with 228 hits and 26 homers in 10 seasons in KBO.
