Biographical Information[edit]

Wang-Yi Lin has played in the US minors, as has his twin brother Wang-Wei Lin (who was 7 minutes older).

Wang-Yi Lin was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2005 after being scouted by Jon Deeble. He made his pro debut for the 2006 GCL Red Sox and went 2-1 with a save and a team-best 1.31 ERA. He missed 2007 due to a right arm injury. In 2008, Lin pitched for the GCL Red Sox (0-2, 4.63) and Lowell Spinners (4 R in 2 2/3 IP). He returned to Lowell for 2009 but was ineffective (0-2, Sv, 9 R in 3 2/3 IP).

When Cheng-Chang Lee withdrew from the 2009 Baseball World Cup, Lin took his place on Taiwan's roster.

The Red Sox let Lin go in November 2009.

Lin throws a forkball, changeup and fastball (peak time of 91 mph).
