Nice article on the national defense list. - Mischa (talk) 19:40, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Silvio Martinez[edit]
Your discovery makes perfect sense. There was a phase in the late 1970s and early 80s when pitcher with a torn rotator cuff would undergo surgery, but it never worked out. The surgery introduced some stiffness in the shoulder that meant the pitchers could never throw as well after the surgery as they had before, even if the pain was gone. That injury is still one that can't really be treated, I believe. By the way, the changes I made to your paragraph were simply cosmetic. Philippe (talk) 17:23, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
That was an interesting factoid about Mike Howard - someone for whom we had no information. Thanks for adding it. Philippe (talk) 17:11, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
Not all assistant coaches are notable. Only add links if they played pro ball or coached collegiately (head coach), as a general rule. - Mischa (talk) 19:26, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
You can add the names, just don't link them. Like under University of Pittsburgh - Mischa (talk) 19:51, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
When you find redundant pages, file a report on B-R register; they usually get them fixed. - Mischa (talk) 16:25, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
Minor League Players[edit]
Minor League Players do not get the "Debut" and "Final Game" lines at the top of the page. They are also not given the "Player" category. They get the "Minor League Players" category. Jeff (talk) 04:40, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Some of the templates you're using are not set up - see the red-linked categories on pages like Bill McAvoy - Mischa (talk) 15:08, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Bert Noblett's page also has a template issue - Mischa (talk) 16:20, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
References should be avoided in the first section of a player page. If some information requires a reference, it should be addressed in the "Biographical Information" section of the page. See Guidelines for more information about how to create player pages. Philippe (talk) 17:05, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
When creating a new player, School goes in the line above High School, not below. Also, do not forget to add links to the new page on the birthplace, birthdate, deathplace, death date, etc. pages. Jeff (talk) 18:52, 4 April 2026 (UTC)
- Again, don't forget, when creating a new player page, link the player on the respective school, birthdate, deathdaye, birthplace, deathplace, etc. pages. Jeff (talk) 02:17, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
My understanding is that when an image was published in a book or newspaper in the U.S. more than 95 years ago, it is no longer copyrighted. The website could only claim a new copyright if it modified the image in any significant way, which is not the case as it simply reproduced the existing newspaper page. So you can use that image. Of course, I am not a lawyer and so on, but I think that's a fairly clear case. Philippe (talk) 18:16, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
Links[edit]
Our system of links has always been to do internal links, even if the page has not yet been made, rather than external links to the B-R Register. I was just editing the Porter Cup entries to reflect that process. This way, when someone fills in the red link, we don't need to try track down external links and then change them all. - Mischa (talk) 10:14, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- You can keep the links to the BR Minors pages like this: Douglas Lott [1]; the red link indicates that Lott is notable by our standards but does not have a page yet, and the link after that takes the reader to his BR page. Philippe (talk) 12:55, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- That's a great compromise to not lose that information. I went through and updated it in that format. BryanWalko (talk) 20:44, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
Disambigs[edit]
When creating page for minor leaguers, where there are multiple players with the same name.. the players need to be numbered chronologically. See David Wright (disambiguation) and Clyde Williams (disambiguation). I have moved the pages you created to the proper numbers. Jeff (talk) 03:44, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
