Biographical Information[edit]

Bill McAvoy was a left fielder who played in the minor leagues for the Rochester Bronchos, Syracuse Stars, Reading Pretzels, and Northampton Meadowlarks. Before attending Lafayette College, he was one of the leading athletes at Bloomsburg State Normal School.[1] With Rochester, he was in A ball, then the highest classification, and held his own at .258/?/.361 in a league whose norms were .238/?/.303. Of the top 18 in doubles, he was one of two who never played in the majors. He was 4th in that department with 20, behind Steve Evans, Ed Lennox and Billy Nattress.

McAvoy became the head baseball coach at Delaware College in 1909 until 1914 and then had another stint from 1923 to 1925.[2][3]
