Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Tyler Coolbaugh played baseball at the University of Oklahoma from 2013-2015 before transferring to Angelo State University for his final two seasons. He eventually completed his degree in Liberal Studies from Oklahoma. The Baltimore Orioles drafted Coolbaugh in the 36th round of the 2017 Amateur Draft from Angelo State and he played in their minor league system in 2017-2018. Coolbaugh finished his playing career in 2019 with the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League.
Coolbaugh quickly turned to coaching and started 2020 as Director of Player Development with the Nicholls State University Colonels. During the 2020 summer, he was a hitting coach for the Amarillo Sod Squad in the Texas Collegiate League. Coolbaugh moved to Abilene Christian University in the fall of 2020 as an assistant coach. This job also proved to be short-lived as the Texas Rangers hired Coolbaugh in 2021 to work as a hitting coach for their DSL Rangers 2 squad.
Coolbaugh returned to the college scene in August, 2021 as Director of Player Development at the University of Arizona. He stayed with the Wildcats through the 2023 season before joining the Brigham Young University Cougars for the 2024 season as an assistant coach.
The Chicago White Sox hired Coolbaugh to serve as a development coach for the ACL White Sox in 2025. He was then bench coach of the Winston-Salem Dash in 2026.
Tyler is the son of Scott Coolbaugh and nephew of Mike Coolbaugh.
