Biographical Information[edit]
Tokio Takagi signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1961, and he went 6-for-24 in his first season. He hit .250/.262/.266 in 38 games in 1962, and he had a .170/.185/.226 batting line in 1963. Takagi shared the starting catcher spot with Toshiaki Ogawa in 1964, and he played 83 games with a .219/.288/.260 batting line. He then went 10-for-36 in 1965, but he only got 31 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1973. Takagi was Chunichi's battery coach from 1975 to 1980, then he became a scout for the Dragons and the Hanshin Tigers, signing Masahiro Yamamoto, Satoshi Funaki, Taichiro Kamisaka and Yuya Ando.
Overall, Takagi hit .215/.261/.251 with 76 hits in 13 seasons in NPB.
