Biographical Information[edit]
Teruo Esaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Esaki signed with the Mainichi Orions in 1957, and he had a 3.25 ERA in 28 games in his first season. He only pitched 13 games combined in the next two seasons, and he went to the Kintetsu Buffaloes. Esaki had a 6-11 record with a 3.48 ERA in 1960, and he tied Takao Kajimoto, Osamu Kubota and Junichi Nakajima for 5th in appearances in the Pacific League. He slumped to 1-7 with a 5.97 ERA in 1961, and he only got two appearances in 1962. Esaki then went to the Chunichi Dragons in 1963, but he stayed in the minors for most of the season and he announced his retirement. He was the minor league pitching coach for the Dragons in 1985.
Overall, Esaki was 10-21 with a 4.25 ERA, struck out 253 and pitched 410 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
