Biographical Information[edit]

Terrance Gore was a speedster who was used more as a pinch-runner in the majors than in any other role.

Gore, who is 5 ft. 7 in., was born in Macon, GA, which is also the birthplace of Ron Fairly and Blue Moon Odom. Terrance was a high school football and baseball star, turning down football scholarships to focus instead on baseball. He was in the Kansas City Royals organization from 2011-2019, although he was with the Chicago Cubs organization for part of 2018 and the New York Yankees organization for part of 2019.

Terrance came to the majors for the first time in 2014, returning in 2015-2017 but not getting a hit in 14 total plate appearances with the Royals. In those four years, however, he appeared in 51 games total and stole 21 bases. Defensively he was in the field ten times, all in left field.

He moved to the Cubs for 14 games in 2018, getting five plate appearances and his first major league hit. He stole 6 bases and appeared in left field seven times.

In 2019 he was back up with the Royals for 37 games, getting 58 plate appearances and hitting a solid .275, with a .362 OBP, albeit without much power. He stole 13 bases and appeared 23 times in the field, getting his first chances to play a position other than left field. He was part of a historic at-bat on April 19th, in a game against the New York Yankees, as he led off the 7th inning facing reliever Adam Ottavino: it was the first time a batter wearing uniform number 0 faced a pitcher with the same number. He struck out looking.

In 2020, he signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He made two appearances with the Dodgers early in the truncated season, without getting a plate appearance. In August, he cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Dodgers' alternate training site. However, he was brought back to be added to the postseason roster for the Wild Card Series, as a potential pinch-runner. His services weren't required, though, and he was left off for the three subsequent rounds, as the Dodgers preferred to have an additional pitcher available. In 2021, he did not appear in any games during the regular season, but saw some action in the postseason as the Atlanta Braves added him to their roster. He played his final major league games with the New York Mets at the end of the 2022 season, going 1 for 7 with 3 stolen bases, then appeared once as a pinch-runner during the Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres. It marked the end of his professional playing career.

He passed away at just 34 in February of 2026 from complications following a medical procedure. He and his wife Britney had two sons.
