The brother of Bob Sadowski and Ed Sadowski, and uncle of Jim Sadowski, Ted Sadowski pitched three seasons in the majors and 12 in the minors. His brother Ed was also in the American League in 1960-1962 when Ted was there.
Ted was born, and died, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was signed by the Washington Senators in 1955 and immediately went 6-0 for the Erie Senators. He had a .500 record (or close to it) from 1956 to 1958 and in 1960, while in 1959 he went 16-11 for a couple of teams.
He made his major league debut in September 1960 with the Senators, at the time managed by Cookie Lavagetto. Ted was the same age as teammate Harmon Killebrew. The team became the Minnesota Twins after the season. During the next two seasons, Ted received the ball for increasing amounts of innings, although he also pitched in the minors, but he had little success in the Show, with an ERA of 6.82 in 1961 and 5.03 in 1962. From 1963, to 1966, he was back in the minors full-time, and ended up with 104 total minor league career victories. In the majors he pitched a total of 84 1/3 innings, mostly in relief.
