Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Taylor Thompson began playing in the Chicago White Sox minor league system in 2009. He was originally taken by the club in the 25th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but did not sign a contract. They then drafted him again in the 44th round in 2009 and he signed.

He had a 1.89 ERA in 9 games in his first professional season, and he followed that up with a 2.02 ERA in 22 appearances in 2010. In 2011, his mark was 2.52 with 37 games finished and 15 saves and in 2012, he had 12 saves, 27 games finished and a 2.28 ERA in 34 games. He was named an MiLB.com Organization All-Star following the season. In 2013, he had his first taste of Triple-A, posting a 7.88 ERA in 12 appearances for the Charlotte Knights. He had 13 saves and a 3.53 ERA overall that year. He began 2014 with Charlotte.
