Biographical Information[edit]
Takuichi Koike pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Koike was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 6th round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he only got 6 appearances combined in his first two seasons. He went 6-10 with a 4.17 ERA in 1995, and he tied Masaki Saito, Yasuyuki Yamauchi and Shigeki Noguchi for 10th in losses in the Central League. Koike had a 4.32 ERA in 11 games in 1996, and he was 4-9 with a 5.02 ERA in 1997. He ranked 7th in losses, tied with Hiromi Makihara, Hiroki Kuroda and Hideki Okajima. Koike allowed 6 runs in 4 innings in 1998, and he had a 6.00 ERA in 8 games in 1999. The Dragons then traded with Kotaro Azuse and Ken Kadokura to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Hideo Koike, Shigeki Sano and Kazuhito Yoshimura. Koike pitched 8 games again with a 5.11 ERA in 2000 and he announced his retirement in 2001 after having a 8.59 ERA in 4 appearances.
Overall, Koike was 11-20 with a 4.79 ERA, struck out 267 and pitched 287 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
