Biographical Information[edit]

Kotaro Azuse played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Azuse was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 2nd round of the 1989 NPB draft, and he had a 4.11 ERA in 10 games in 1990. He pitched 8 games with a 3.38 ERA in 1991, but his ERA rose to 6.15 in 24 relief outings in 1992. The Whales then traded him to the Lotte Orions for Yoshinari Nagano, and he was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 1993. Azuse only got 5 appearances in the next two seasons, and he was released. The Hiroshima Carp signed him, and he recorded a 5.26 ERA in 37 games in 1997. His ERA was 6.00 in 13 games in 1998, and he was released again. Azuse signed with the Chunichi Dragons, and he only pitched 2/3 of an inning in 1999. The Dragons then traded with Takuichi Koike and Ken Kadokura to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Hideo Koike, Shigeki Sano and Kazuhito Yoshimura, and he allowed 4 runs in 6 innings in 2000 then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Azuse was 2-7 with a 4.98 ERA, struck out 105 and pitched 132 innings in 10 seasons in NPB.
