Biographical Information[edit]
Takenori Daita played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Daita was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 6th round of the 1997 NPB draft, and he only got one at-bat for the top team before the Lions traded him with Yukio Kinugawa to the Yakult Swallows for Kazuya Tabata. Daita set the Eastern League record with 60 steals in a season in 2001, but he only got 15 at-bats for the top team in his first two seasons with the Swallows. He played 35 games in 2002 mainly as pinch-runner (4 runs and 5 steals with 6 at-bats), and the Swallows released him. Daita signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines, and he hit .125/.222/.125 in 33 games in 2003. His batting line was .091/.200/.091 in 31 games in 2005, and he was 4-for-22 in 2006. Daita had a 4-for-11 record in 37 games in 2007, but he only played 2 games in 2008 and he announced his retirement. He later became the minor league fielding coach for the Marines from 2009 to 2010, and he coached Josai University.
In 191 NPB games, he had 131 plate appearances, hitting .165/.272/.202, scoring 41 runs on 18 hits and going 23-for-31 in steal attempts.
