Biographical Information[edit]

Yukio Kinugawa was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 4th round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he mainly stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first seven seasons; he only got 12 at-bats combined for the big club. He won the batting title of the Western League in 1998, and he led the league in RBI in 1999. The Buffaloes then traded him with Takenori Daita to the Yakult Swallows for Kazuya Tabata, and he hit .161/.278/.226 in 2000 in 39 games. He won the batting title of the Eastern League, and he was the first player to win a batting title in both NPB minor leagues. However, Kinugawa only got 3 more at-bats for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2003. His brother Takao Kinugawa was a Japanese national team outfielder
