Biographical Information[edit]

Takahiro Kenmotsu played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Kenmotsu was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1971 NPB draft as a pitcher, and he spent his first seven seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues. He was turned into an outfielder in 1974, and he only got 5 at-bats for the top team. The Carp traded him with Hideyuki Hirata and Takuya Mochizuki to the Lotte Orions for Tomehiro Kaneda and Hidetake Watanabe in 1978, and he went 4-for-22 in 1979. Kenmotsu had a 9-for-32 record in 1980, and he went 15-for-50 in 1981. He shared the starting right fielder spot with Toshiaki Yoshioka in 1982, and he collected 14 doubles with a .264/.329/.339 batting line. Kenmotsu then hit .235/.322/.314 in 1983, but he slumped to .217/.294/.283 in 1984, and he was traded to the Chunichi Dragons for Toshio Tanokura. He went 7-for-48 in 1985, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Kenmotsu hit .244/.317/.316 with 173 hits and 6 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
