Biographical Information[edit]
Takuya Mochizuki was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1974 NPB draft, and he went 2-6 with a 3.94 ERA in 32 appearances in 1977. His ERA rose to 9.00 in 14 appearances in 1978, and the Carps traded him with Hideyuki Hirata and Takahiro Kenmotsu to the Lotte Orions for Tomehiro Kaneda and Hidetake Watanabe. Mochizuki was 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA in 1979, then he only pitched 3 games in 1980. He recorded a 3.77 ERA in 22 appearances in 1981, but he only got 15 more appearances for the top team before he announced his retirement in 1983.
Overall, Mochizuki went 6-10 with a 5.07 ERA, struck out 74 and pitched 236 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
