Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Stan Kyles was drafted in the 4th round of the 1979 amateur draft by the Chicago Cubs. He pitched in the minors from 1979 to 1989, including AAA stops with the Iowa Cubs (1983), Tacoma Tigers (1985-1987), and Albuquerque Dukes (1988).

Kyles became a coach with the independent Bend Bucks in 1991. He then was a minor league coach for the Cubs with the Geneva Cubs in 1992 and Iowa Cubs in 1993. He moved to the Colorado Rockies in 1994-1996 including the Asheville Tourists in 1996. Kyles moved back to the Cubs with the Orlando Rays in 1997, Rockford Cubbies in 1998 and Lansing Lugnuts in 1999-2000.

Kyles joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization with the High Desert Mavericks in 2001 and the Huntsville Stars in 2002-2003. He was with the Indianapolis Indians in 2004 and was with the Nashville Sounds from 2005-2008. Kyles joined the Brewers' major league staff in 2009 and was the team's bullpen coach until the end of the 2012 season.

Kyles joined the Pittsburgh Pirates organization as pitching coach for the Altoona Curve in 2013-2014, Indianapolis Indians in 2015-2018, and Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2019.

Kyles' son, Marques Kyles, pitched for the AZL Brewers in 2010.
