The Dragons then traded him with Tetsuya Katahira to the Hiroshima Carp for Hiroyuki Saito and Mitsuhiro Kataoka, and he was 0-for-1 in 15 appearances in 1989 as he was primarily a defensive sub in the outfield. Motomura was then traded with Soichiro Sakakibara to the Daiei Hawks for Takamasa Matsui and Kiyotaka Nishi, and he was 5-for-27 in 1990. Motomura failed to reach the big club in 1991, and he announced his retirement.
