Biographical Information

Soichiro Sakakibara was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1980 NPB draft, and he led the Western League in RBI in 1985. He led the minors in RBI and homers in 1988, and he was 8-for-30 with the big club. Sakakibara went 4-for-15 in 1989, and he was traded with Shingo Motomura to the Daiei Hawks for Takamasa Matsui and Kiyotaka Nishi He had a 4-for-29 record in 1990, and he was traded back to the Carp, and he announced his retirement in 1991. Sakakibara coached the Carp from 1992 to 1993, and he was the coach of Miyazaki Nihon University High School from 2014 to 2019.
