He was the starting first baseman for the champs, getting three hits to beat the defending champion USA and going 0 for 2 but with two walks in the title game against Taiwan. He hit .286/.412/.393 with 5 walks and 6 RBI in 9 games, handling 67 chances error-free. He tied for 4th in RBI and trailed only Jamie Beerman in putouts and fielding. [1] He was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 5th round of the 2023 NPB draft; the scout was Junji Kuroki. [2] He hit .290/.368/.358 with 15 doubles in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2023, and he ranked 2nd in batting average in the Eastern League (.33 behind Taisei Chinen). He also went 1-for-7 with the big club (getting a hit off Kota Tatsu in his first NPB at-bat), and he had a .302/.397/.365 batting line for the Sydney Blue Sox in the 2024-2025 ABL. Terachi crushed his first career home run against Takahisa Hayakawa on April 18, 2025, and he crushed another homer against Shoma Fujihira in the same game. Terachi was the 4th catcher to hit 2 homers in a game while under 20 years old (following Hachiro Yamamoto, Nobuyuki Kagawa and Ginjiro Sumitani) and the first Marines catcher to do so.
