Biographical Information[edit]

Rob Vaughn has been a college coach.

Vaughn played at Humble High School in Humble, TX.

Vaughn would begin his collegiate career in 2006 at Kansas State University where he would catch for the Wildcats through the 2009 season. At Kansas State Vaughn would hit .263 before being drafted in the 30th round of the 2009 Amateur Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

Vaughn would play professionally in 2009-2010, starting 2009 in Rookie ball with the Bristol White Sox before finishing the year with the Kannapolis Intimidators in A-ball. In 2010 Vaughn would appear in 19 games hitting .277 with the Great Falls Voyagers before retiring from professional baseball.

Immediately following his playing career, Vaughn returned to Kansas State as a student assistant for 2010. In the 2011-2012 seasons, Vaughn was a volunteer assistant for the Wildcats.

In 2013, Vaughn would get the opportunity to be an assistant coach at the University of Maryland where he was on staff for the three winningest seasons in the schools history. In 2016 he was named associate head coach for Maryland. In 2018 he was named head coach at Maryland. In 2022 the Terrapins set a program record for wins with 48 as well as claiming their first regular season conference title since 1971. From 2021-2023 he lead Maryland to three consecutive regional appearences while being named the Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023.

In June 2023, Vaughn was named head coach of University of Alabama. In his first three years he has been to three consecutive regionals and his first College World Series trip in 2026.
