Pitcher Owen Dew was drafted twice. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim drafted him in the 33rd round of the 2009 Amateur Draft from Seminole State College of Florida, but he opted to continue his studies. The Cleveland Indians drafted him the next year in the 21st round from the University of Central Florida. Dew played in the Indians chain in 2010-2013, missing the 2012 season. He reached High-A in his final season.
Dew returned to Seminole State in August 2014 to begin his coaching career. He stayed with the Raiders through the 2017 season and also served as an unpaid associate scout for the Indians at the same time. Dew moved to the Indians organization in 2017 as a full-time coach. He was a pitching coach for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2017, AZL Indians 2 in 2018, and Lake County Captains in 2019. Dew was scheduled to coach Lynchburg Hillcats pitchers in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He was the pitching coach of the Akron RubberDucks in 2021-2022. Under Dew's guidance, the 2021 RubberDucks pitching staff had 3.78 ERA (second best in the Double-A Northeast) and a franchise record 1,190 strikeouts. The now Cleveland Guardians promoted Dew to the Columbus Clippers in 2023 and he remained there in 2024.
In 2025, Dew moved to the Arizona Diamondbacks as an assistant pitching coach.
