Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Noah Zavolas was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 18th round of the 2018 amateur draft, out of Harvard University, where he had been the Ivy League Pitcher of the Year as a senior. He had a good first professional season, split between the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League and the Modesto Nuts of the California League, going a combined 5-2, 3.03 in 19 games, all in relief. He pitched a total of 38 2/3 innings, giving up 31 hits and 11 walks while striking out 41; he also recorded 2 saves. On December 21st that year, he was included in a major league trade, being sent to the Milwaukee Brewers alongside OF Ben Gamel in return for OF Domingo Santana. With the Carolina Mudcats in 2020, he was 6-5 with a 2.98 ERA and only 23 walks in 133 innings.
The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021, going 5-7 with a 4.40 ERA and 121 K in 120 2/3 IP for the AA Biloxi Shuckers. He was 3rd in the Brewers chain in whiffs (behind Victor Castaneda and Brandon Knarr) and led Double-A South (8 ahead of Max Meyer). Back with Biloxi in '22, he fell to 2-2, 6.57 with two saves. He coached for the Greek national team in the 2023 European Championship. Joining the Hoofddorp Pioniers, he had a 7-2, 2.23 record in the 2025 Hoofdklasse. He and Wesley Jansen threw a combined no-hitter versus UVV. He was 6th in wins, 7th in strikeouts (61, between Martijn Schoonderwoerd and Chris Stuart) and 7th in ERA (between Rick Rizvić and Misja Harcksen).
He then suited up for Greek in the 2025 European Championship, striking out 12 in 7 2/3 IP against Lithuania; facing former major leaguer Dovydas Neverauskas, he had a no-decision, yielding 3 runs (all earned). He was better in a rematch with Lithuania in a relegation game, fanning 9 in 6 shutout innings to beat Eimantas Žičkus and lock up Greece's spot in the 2027 European Championship. He was 1/3 of an inning behind co-leaders Markus Solbach and Jose Diaz and tied Kevin Kelly for the strikeout lead.
