Biographical Information[edit]
Naoki Sogabe was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 4th round of the 1995 NPB draft, and he only got 8 at-bats combined in his first five seasons for the big club. He led the Western League in homers in 2000 and 2001, and he was 3-for-17 for the top team in 2002. However, Sogabe tore his Achilles' tendon on September 11 while trying to catch Roberto Petagine's fly ball, and he was released in 2003. The Chiba Lotte Marines signed him, but he only played 2 games in 2004 then he announced his retirement in 2005.
