Biographical Information[edit]
Prior to her professional career, Mo'ne Davis was making history as a child at the 2014 Little League World Series, becoming the first girl to not only get a win on the mound in a Little League World Series, but also the first to throw a shutout. She faced future big leaguer Robert Hassell in the tournament and struck him out.
"It was crazy. She struck me out, it was on my birthday. Then I got a base hit off her. But yeah, the whole crowd screaming her name, we're really young, it was crazy, but it was really fun ... She was really good." -Robert Hassell
Despite not winning the Series, Davis became a huge celebrity all over the country and had been congratulated on her accomplishments by various celebrities and MLB players, including Mike Trout. She was invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at various big league ballparks and also became the first Little Leaguer to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. A month later, she gave her jersey to the Hall of Fame, where it was put on display.
Her fame and success obviously came with some issues, which could be especially taxing on someone of such a young age, as there were companies making merchandise using her likeness without permission, people bombarding her with questions, and worst of all the discrimination she faced from literal grown adults. In early 2015 Bloomsburg University infielder Joey Casselberry made a post on Twitter, calling the then-13-year-old Davis a "slut" and got thrown off the team. Davis decided to be the better person, and in spite of Casselberry's comment, she wrote to the University, requesting for him to be reinstated, saying that people should be allowed to learn from their mistakes and get second chances.
She would later go on to play softball at Hampton University and got drafted 10th overall by the WPBL Los Angeles of the Women's Professional Baseball League in its inaugural draft in 2025. She became the third player from her Little League team to be drafted by a professional team, the others being Scott Bandura, who was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2023 and Jared Sprague-Lott, who was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2024.
In April of 2026, she signed with the Indianapolis Clowns of the Banana Ball Championship League.
