Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Yastrzemski holds the record for games played at Florida State University with 279 (through 2008).

He played in the minor leagues from 1984 to 1988 advancing as high as AAA (in 1986-1988). He was named the Most Spectacular Player at the 1980 Haarlem Baseball Week.

He is the son of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. His son, Michael Yastrzemski was picked by the Boston Red Sox in the 36th round of the 2009 amateur draft, but went on to Vanderbilt University and played in the 2011 College World Series; he was picked again, by the Baltimore Orioles, in the 14th round of the 2013 amateur draft.

He died on September 15, 2004, from complications following hip surgery. He was 43 years old.
