Biographical Information[edit]

Max Viera has played in the independent leagues and for the British national team.

He hit .348/.394/.589 as a college freshman in 2021, the best average by a Northeastern U. freshman in 10 years. [1] He slipped to .208/.297/.266 as a sophomore but stole 17 bases in 18 tries. He tied Trotter Harlan for third in the Colonial Athletic Association in swipes. Transferring to Seton Hall, he rebounded to .319/.372/.486 with 44 runs and 46 RBI in 52 contests his junior year, with 23 stolen bases in 26 attempts. He was the first Seton Hall player in a decade with a 40-run, 40-RBI season. He was 5th in the Big East Conference in doubles (17) and made All-Big East. [2] In the Cape Cod League that summer, he hit .264/.344/.292 for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He tied Zach Ehrhard and Gage Harrleson for 8th with 11 steals. His rollercoaster college career continued in 2024 when he posted a .259/.318/.331 line with 20 runs and 11 RBI for Seton Hall. In the 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he hit .136/.269/.364 for Britain, fielding .909 as their main second sacker. [3]

Turning pro, he batted .261/.355/.378 with 64 runs and 17 steals (caught twice) for the 2025 High Point Rockers. He then joined Britain for the 2025 European Championship. He started all six of their games, four at second and two in the outfield. Debuting against champion the Netherlands, he struck out against Tom de Blok as the first British batter of the 2025 Euros. His first hit was off Kevin Kelly. For the tourney, he hit .250/.345/.333 with four runs and two RBI in six contests; the speedster stole in his lone attempt. He handled 25 chances error-free; despite his time in the outfield, he tied Assaf Lowengart and Jantzen Witte for 7th with 15 assists. [4]
