Biographical Information[edit]
Masayoshi Sakata signed with the Osaka Tigers in 1950, and he hit .259/.283/.345 in 60 plate appearances over 41 games in his first season, mostly backing up Ichiro Nishie at short. He had a .125/.192/.125 batting line in 1951, and he announced his retirement in 1952. His brothers Yoshihide Sakata and Kiyoharu Sakata both played in NPB.
