Biographical Information[edit]

Makio Sano played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.

Sano was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the first round of the 1965 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Kenjiro Tabata. He hit .210/.295/.320 in 57 games in 1966, then he recorded a .211/.286/.243 batting line in 1967. Sano then went 3-for-24 in 1968, and he was 3-for-30 in 1969. He announced his retirement after that season. His son Kokoro Sano was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 6th round of the 1991 NPB draft, and they were the first father-son pair to be drafted in NPB history.

Overall, Sano hit .193/.269/.245 with 59 hits in 4 seasons in NPB.
