Biographical Information[edit]

Lucas Ramón has pitched for the Argentinian national team. In the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA and 14 K in 13 1/3 IP. He lost to Taiwan and beat the Czech Republic. He led the team in strikeouts, tied for 7th in the event. He then was with Argentina for the 2016 South American Championship, their youngest pitcher. He got the crucial nod in the Gold Medal game against Brazil, allowing 6 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs in 3 innings in taking the loss; Ezequiel Cufre relieved in what would be a 10-4 defeat.

In the 2018 South American Championship, he had a 2.25 ERA, allowing only four hits and three walks in eight innings while fanning seven. He tied Erick Kimura for 5th in the event in whiffs, was 4th in IP and tied Leonardo Oliveira for 5th in ERA while Argentina won to qualify for the 2019 Pan American Games. He held defending champion Brazil to two runs in six but the bullpen blew it in Argentina's only loss. He pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings in the 2019 Pan American Games and got the win over Jonathan Farías and Peru in the 7th/8th place game.

Signing with Germany's Ulm Falcons for 2022, he allowed six runs (four earned) in nine innings in the regular season and hit .250/.357/.250 as a backup outfielder. He was back with Argentina for the 2022 South American Championship, starting the title game against Brazil. He matched former major leaguer André Rienzo with shutout ball over the first five, allowing only two hits. In the 6th, though, he allowed three straight singles - to Pedro Okuda, Felipe Burin and Salomon Koba. Guido Monis took over and let two runs in (unearned) and Lucas took the hard-luck loss.

In the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, Argentina made their debut in a World Baseball Classic tournament. He made history as their first pitcher in a WBC qualifier, facing Pakistan. He got the win over former Diamondbacks farmhand Omar Arif, allowing two runs in six before Eric Ma relieved. He tied Yeudy García for 7th in the tournament in innings, second on Argentina behind only Federico Robles.
